Frequently asked questions
Which applications work with LLDAP out of the box?
LLDAP is compatible with Nextcloud, Gitea, Grafana, Authentik, Jellyfin, and any LDAP v3-capable application. We configure read-only bind accounts for each application during onboarding.
How does LLDAP handle password resets for end users?
LLDAP sends a reset link to the user's email address. You configure your SMTP credentials once; after that, users can reset their own passwords without admin involvement.
What is the difference between the SQLite and PostgreSQL backends?
Starter uses SQLite, which is sufficient for up to 50 users and has no separate database process to manage. Business upgrades to PostgreSQL for better durability and concurrent connections when more applications query the directory simultaneously.
When should I upgrade from LLDAP to Keycloak or Authentik?
LLDAP covers LDAP-based authentication only. When you need OIDC, SAML, social login, MFA enforcement, or custom authentication flows, migrating to Keycloak or Authentik is the right step. We assist with that migration as part of a plan upgrade.
